Echo Speak is committed to protecting your privacy. This is a free application with no purchases, no monetization, and no data collection beyond what is needed for the core learning features.
Data We Collect
Audio & Speech Data
When you use Echo Speak, your voice recordings are processed as follows:
- Your audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for automatic transcription
- The transcribed text is stored in our database as part of your practice session records
- The audio file itself is not stored
- Your transcript and speech content is used to provide feedback and track progress
Account Information
Email address and full name are collected when you sign up or log in.
Practice Activity
We collect and store data about your learning activity including:
- Practice sessions, transcripts, and performance scores
- Saved expressions and personal notes
- Daily challenge completion and streaks
- Scheduled practice sessions
Analytics
Session counts, average scores, and learning progress are tracked to help you monitor improvement.
Third-Party Data Processing
OpenAI (Whisper & GPT)
Your voice and text are sent to OpenAI for processing:
- Audio transcription via Whisper API
- Pronunciation and grammar feedback via GPT
- Lesson generation and personalized coaching
OpenAI may retain data briefly for service improvement per their privacy policy.
Base44 Platform
Echo Speak runs on the Base44 platform, which handles user authentication, data storage, and infrastructure.
How We Use Your Data
- Provide pronunciation feedback and personalized coaching
- Track your progress and learning analytics
- Generate lessons and practice content tailored to your level
- Improve our app and AI models (with aggregated, anonymized data)
- Communicate important updates about your account
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with marketing partners or third parties.
Your data is shared only with:
- OpenAI — for transcription and feedback (required for the app to function)
- When legally required by government requests or law enforcement
Data Retention
Your practice sessions, transcripts, and learning data are retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view your practice sessions and learning data in your dashboard
- Delete: You can delete individual sessions or your entire account at any time
- Export: Contact us to request a copy of your data
- Privacy Rights: If you're in the EU/GDPR region, you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of your data
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Echo Speak is not intended for children under 13. If we discover a user under 13, we will delete their account and data immediately.
No Purchases, No Monetization
Echo Speak is a completely free application. There are no in-app purchases, no paid plans, no subscriptions, and no advertisements. We do not collect payment information, and no monetization pathways exist within the app.

We may update this policy occasionally. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
